Marc Coma, Robby Gordon beat the desert

The title holder in the motorbike category, Marc Coma, claimed his first stage victory for KTM between Fiambala and Copiapo in Chile on Tuesday. In the car category, American Robby Gordon and his impressive Hummer finally drove to their first win.
Spaniard Marc Coma entered the dunes of the Atacama Desert to claim his first stage victory in Copiapo, the first Chilean city of the Dakar rally. Coma led the pack in front of France’s David Casteu (Sherco) and Cyril Despres (KTM), who still tops the general ranking.
His first victory helps Coma, the winner of the 2009 Dakar race, to climb three places but he still lags 38 mins and 50 secs behind Cyril Despres.
Gordon, the desert king
In the car category, today’s winner Robby Gordon has nevertheless lost one hour since the very start of the race. During yesterday’s stage, the American driver endured navigation and engine problems that will probably cost him the race.
Tuesday's victory takes Gordon from the 12th to the eighth spot and still leaves him the chance of winning other stages.
