Haiti: The World to the Recue (part 2)

The earthquake in Haiti caused tens of thousands of deaths and injuries. From the very beginning, the international community reacted by sending help to the population, devastated by the catastrophe. From China to the USA, from France to Venezuela, heads of State have called for support. And so have stars like George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Wyclef Jean.

Tonight, we focus on NGOs’ humanitarian help and how they manage on the ground. Has the 2004 Tsunami lesson been learnt?

Debate hosted by Mark Owen with guests:
  • Patrick AEBERHARD, Former President of Médecins du Monde, Associate professor at Paris-8 University and Professor of Humanitarian Law and Strategy
  • Frédéric ROUSSEL, Founder and Director of Development of ACTED
  • Antoine PEIGNEY, Director of International relations and operations for Red Cross France
  • Jonathan MITCHELL, Emergency Response Director for CARE International (via satellite from Geneva)

Programme prepared by Bilal Tarabey, Isabelle Dana and Perrine Desplats.
