Africa at 50: closing the gender gap

Tonight we're continuing our series celebrating 50 years of independence for a long list of nations in Africa, and looking at women on the continent. In many places, they grow up to 80% of the crops, raise the children, keep the house, yet lag far behind their male counterparts in key indicators such as literacy and pay. So how do you empower women? Where do you start? Are they catching up with their male counterparts over time?
