Punk is not dead

They were bands that would go on to influence a generation of pop music. The New Wave movement sprang out of late 70s punk and rock. Music journalist Michka Assayas was there as it happened. In today’s edition of Culture he tells us why bands like Joy Division, The Clash and Depeche Mode were so influential and why some of today’s manufactured pop stars could learn something from New Wave chancers.
