On Monday, French president Nicolas Sarkozy announced a string of measures in line with his plan to cut government spending by 10%, with everything from forcing ministers to take the train instead of the plane to a cull on official presidential hunting parties. So is this an answer or a smokescreen? And how are the voters taking these announcements?
