Police baton protesters demanding activists' release

Syrian security forces Wednesday used batons to disperse 150 people protesting the incarceration of jailed human rights activists, witnesses say. At least five people were arrested in the protest outside the Interior Ministry.

REUTERS - Syrian security forces dispersed about 150 people who had been demanding the release of political prisoners in front of the Interior Ministry in central Damascus on Wednesday, a witness said.

Scores of security forces charged the gathering with black batons and at least one demonstrator suffered a gash on his head, the witness said, adding that he saw at least five protesters detained by security forces.
