July 11th is World Population Day. India is the world's second most populous country, with more than 1.2 billion inhabitants. In order to stabilize its rising population, the country regularly holds sterilization campaign. From the 1st of July to the end of September, a district in the state of Rajasthan, one of India's poorest, is offering sterilized adults the chance to win cars, motorcycles, televisions and even household robots, to encourage villagers to have no more than two children.
