Opposition plans to boycott parliamentary elections in Belarus

Belarus holds parliamentary elections this weekend. The government is doing its best to encourage citizens to vote - reportedly via threats of sacking if they don’t and promises of extra holidays if they do. But the main opposition forces are boycotting the poll. They claim there will be no real choice and that the parliament has no real power anyway.
