Mali: a war without images

French networks TF1 and France Télévisions have sent multiple teams to the Malian capital, but a media blackout on images of the conflict means their journalists are all confined to Bamako, hundreds of miles from the frontline. Also, the Elysée palace's spin on the war leads some to cry "propaganda". Finally, photos of a dead French soldier in Somalia are posted on Twitter.
