Sergei Guriev, the former rector of Moscow's New Economic School, and once a prominent figure of the liberal establishment, left Russia at the end of April. Neither an opposition leader nor a slogan-chanting street protester, Guriev is simply an economist who dared to speak up in favour of people the Kremlin doesn’t like.
