Moscow gets a facelift to improve quality of life

During the Putin years, a wealthy middle class emerged in Russia and particularly in Moscow. The city has now launched a multi-billion dollar programme to improve quality of life in the capital, revamping Soviet-era parks, redeveloping forest areas and creating new pedestrian zones. The first site to be done up was Gorky Park. Formerly a scruffy wasteland, it's now an urban paradise and one of the most popular spots in Moscow.
