Our reporters in Perpignan met war photographer João Silva, who lost both his legs when he stepped on a landmine in Afghanistan in 2010. Since then, his prosthetic limbs have helped him make a fresh start.

The Visa pour l'image photojornalism festival is showing a retrospective of Silva's work, with photos from Iraq, Afghanistan and South Africa.
