Israeli authorites on edge as regional tensions persist

Despite a diplomatic breakthrough on the Syrian front and overtures made by the new Iranian president, Israeli authorities want verifiable progress to be made in doing away with Syria's chemical arsenal and Iran's nuclear facilities. They also say that Hezbollah, who they call Iran's proxy in southern Lebanon, has been re-arming and preparing for war. Meanwhile, Syria's ally Iran wants the same logic of non-proliferation to be applied to Israel itself.
