Qadri Jamil, Former Syrian Deputy Prime Minister
Issued on: Modified:
Syrian Deputy Prime Minister Qadri Jamil was sacked on Tuesday while on a visit to Moscow. He tells France 24 he heard he had lost his job through media reports. He acknowledges having made political contacts outside Syria, claiming he is independent of the government.
Jamil says that Bashar al-Assad’s departure is not on the table for the “Geneva 2” conference, but hails the UN-Arab League Special Envoy Lakhdar Brahimi for his role in mediating between the two sides in the conflict.
