Walid Pharès, advisor to the US Congress on the Middle East and Terrorism

In his latest book published in French, Walid Pharès points out the many mistakes made by the West since the Arab revolutions. Taken by surprise by the uprisings, Western leaders failed to support civil society, youth movements and the moderate opposition that were at the heart of the protests, allowing them to be overshadowed by well-organised Islamists. He speaks to France 24’s Eduardo Cue.
