House of the Holy Afro: South African dance heats up Paris
Issued on: Modified:
"House of the Holy Afro" is a hot and high energy dance show from South Africa that its own creator calls "South African pot pourri". Born out of on-the-ground research into ancient ceremonies and rites, it mixes street dance, township gospel, hip hop poetry, and even shamanic rituals.
Choreographer Natalie Fisher joins us in the studio – she tells Catherine Nicholson why audience participation is more or less non-negotiable, as well as about her experience choreographing Shakira’s moves for the 2010 World Cup.
