Ebola virus: US to send 3,000 troops to West Africa

The Ebola epidemic sweeping through West Africa is taking Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia to the brink of collapse, warns the UN. Meanwhile, US President Barack Obama unveils a new initiative which will see troops head to the region to help combat the epidemic that has claimed more than 2,400 lives. Obama also called on the international community to do more to stop the virus spiralling out of control.
