Dalia Grybauskaite, President of the Republic of Lithuania
Issued on: Modified:
Lithuania, the largest of the three Baltic states, handed over the rotating presidency of the EU to Greece on January 1st. Dalia Grybauskaite, Lithuania’s president, calls Ukraine's decision to turn down a deal with the EU - just days before Lithuania hosted the much-anticipated Vilnius Summit - a "historic mistake”. She sees the hand of Moscow behind Kiev’s last-minute U-turn, but believes the pro-EU protests show that a majority of Ukrainians want closer ties with Europe.
