Turkey joins the fight: Will Ankara tip the scales against jihadists?

Will Turkey tip the scales in Syria? The Turkish Parliament has approved participation in the US-led coalition against jihadists of the Islamic State organisation. Does this mean Erdogan finds himself backing rival Kurds across the border, who find themselves in a fierce fight with the jihadists? Or is he unwittingly on the same side as Syria's Assad?
