French far-right triumphs at polls, opposition leader quits over scandal

The polls had predicted it, but it nonetheless shattered the French political world: for the first time, the far-right National Front party has won a national election here in France. The mainstream parties are in tatters, with the ruling Socialists reaching new lows at the ballot box at in the polls.
