New king on a mission to restore confidence in Spanish monarchy

Spain is preparing to get a new king. Crown Prince Felipe will become King Felipe VI in a ceremony on Thursday that is expected to try to balance pomp with austerity as millions of Spaniards continue to suffer from the economic crisis. Felipe is taking the throne at what could prove to be a pivotal moment for his country. In recent weeks, a noisy minority of Spaniards have been demanding a referendum on whether the country should scrap its monarchy and become a republic.
