Immigration is a hot topic for many EU countries at the moment. Is it, as so many political parties would have us believe, a burden? Or, as others would have it, a crucial part of modern society? It's a thorny debate that the right has seized upon these last few years and one that the left now tends to avoid. Indeed, it's taken the French president two and half years to address it directly.
