Hollande on his own? Socialist backbenchers abstain on confidence vote

Latest opinion polls show François Hollande has hit rock bottom and started to dig. As a Socialist who ran as an enemy of finance, he was always going to antagonise the right. But members of his own party chose to abstain during a vote of confidence in parliament this Tuesday. And it's not only about policy: ex-first lady Valérie Trierwieler's vitriolic kiss-and-tell book skewers Hollande as a man who disdains the poor. Is this the end for Hollande, or can France's president weather the storm?
