Boko Haram violence: Can Nigeria and regional forces defeat the jihadist group? (part 1)

Not a day goes by without news of more violence committed by Boko Haram in Nigeria and beyond. Overnight Niger was once again targeted in an attack that killed three people; Chad has also been added to the list of countries regularly attacked, joining not just Nigeria but Cameroon. In fact no village near Nigeria’s northern border can consider itself really safe. So what chance do the combined forces of the region have against the jihadist group?
