Burundi's brutal standoff: One month on, tension spirals (part 1)

After a month of protests and a failed coup, President Pierre Nkurunziza is undeterred in his bid for a third term. He denies ordering the weekend killing of opposition figure Zedi Feruzi and has ordered a probe. But with at least one dead this Monday, the crackdown on demonstrators continues, protesters who argue he is acting unconstitutionally. Now fears of an escalation have prompted over 100,000 Burundians to flee. How do you tackle the root causes of a seemingly permanent state of tension?
