Ukraine's finance minister: Kiev 'needs a substantial amount of money'

Ukrainian Finance Minister Natalie Jaresko was at the World Economic Forum in Davos, where she alerted Ukraine's international donors to her country's dire need of help. "We need a substantial enough amount of money from our international partners, including the IMF, but not only", she told FRANCE 24's Stephen Carroll.

She explained that there is a massive hole in Ukraine's budget, which keeps worsening due to the cost of war spending and heating subsidies. She also blamed the "legacy of a corrupt regime" and the fact that necessary reforms have been put on hold for too long.

“What we’re asking is for our partners to support us with credits, with debt, so that we can get through this very difficult period”, she said in Davos.
