Bamiyan’s battle to rebuild tourism after Taliban

The Taliban shocked the world back in March 2001 by destroying one of the greatest symbols of world heritage. The famed Buddhas of Bamiyan were reduced to rubble, 15 centuries after they were carved into an Afghan cliff face.


Today, Bamiyan province - one of the poorest in the country - hopes to become a showcase for a peaceful Afghanistan. FRANCE 24 went to meet local people looking to rebuild the tourism industry.
