In the wake of the December 2 shooting in San Bernardino, the Muslim-American community once again finds itself on the frontlines in the battle against both radicalisation and Islamophobia. FRANCE24 has this report from outside Washington DC.

Inflammatory rhetoric in the US targeting Muslims has heightened as the Republican primaries heat up. Donald Trump has called for all Muslims to be barred from entering the country "until our country's representatives can figure out what the hell is going on".

Muslim communuties find they must maintain a delicate balance to win the hearts and minds of fellow US citizens while keeping an eye out for jihadism and extremist ideology.
