Elected officials in three French cities - St-Denis, Lunel and Roubaix - have defended themselves against claims by French Minister for Cities Patrick Kanner that they are potentially French Molenbeeks, a reference to the Brussels neighbourhood that has become a breeding ground for jihadists.
Elsewhere, the Islamic State group is dealt blows in Syria and also in Brussels, where several people were arrested last week in connection to the attacks in Paris and Brussels.
