The People's Party and the Social Democrats, the two main traditional parties in Austria, were rocked by an unforeseen setback on Sunday when they both failed to reach the second round of the presidential election. The far-right Norbert Hofer topped the poll with 36% of the vote. He will face off against the Independent Green Alexander Van der Bellen in the second round.

In the United States, John Kasich and Ted Cruz are set to team up in a bid to thwart Donald Trump in the Republican primaries. Meanwhile, a major Republican donor suggests Hillary Clinton might make a better president than Cruz or Trump.
