French papers react after Hollande bows out: 'The End'

The press is unanimous this Friday: France's phenomenally unpopular President François Hollande was right to announce he won't be seeking re-election in 2017. But while left-wing Libération praises his "self-sacrifice for the greater good", centre-right Le Figaro lambasts the president's announcement as a "sad epilogue to a sorry term". Slate, meanwhile, takes a look at Prime Minister Manuel Valls, the man who's now vying to take over the leadership of the beleaguered Socialists.
