Iran's elections 'are not free', says Nobel Laureate

Nobel Peace Laureate and Iranian lawyer Shirin Ebadi spoke to FRANCE 24 about the upcoming elections in Iran, the lifting of international sanctions on Tehran and the evolution of Iranian society.


Shirin Ebadi says that Friday’s parliamentary elections in Iran "are not free".

"All the candidates have to be approved by the Council of Guardians… and 40 percent of the candidates were not accepted, many of them reformers", she told FRANCE 24.
