Geneva Motor Show: Are electric cars going mainstream?
The Geneva Motor show has kicked off on an upbeat note. Car sales in the European Union grew by 9 percent last year and 2016 is off to a strong start with French and German sales in February growing by 13% and 12% respectively. Electric vehicles are beating the trend, accelerating faster than the rest of the market. And carmakers are betting big on them, even as petrol prices have dropped.
Also in this programme, the ECB and its chief are set for yet another decisive meeting next week. Is Mario Draghi about to launch a helicopter rescue of the eurozone? Does he have any ammunition left to save the euro? We ask Gilles Moec, European Chief Economist at Bank America Merrill Lynch in London.
