Manfred Weber: 'Turkey is an important partner, a neighbour of the EU'
Date created :
This week saw the European Union lay the groundwork for a deal with Ankara to send thousands of migrants in Greece back to Turkey. The EU is now looking at redirecting funds earmarked for disasters and conflicts outside the block, and using them internally, some 700 million euros over the next three years. But right now, thousands of people are still stranded, faced with barbed wire fences and pushed back with tear gas.
So will money solve matters? And how quickly are we going to see things change?
We ask Manfred Weber, a German MEP and leader of the largest group in the European Parliament: the centre-right European People's Party.
