Putin's friends in France: How the Kremlin buys influence

Cécile Vaissié, a professor of Russian and Soviet studies at Rennes 2 University, recalls the first reports in late 2014 that France's far-right National Front party, led by Marine Le Pen, had received a €9.4 million loan from a Kremlin-sponsored bank. In her new book, "The Kremlin's networks in France", Vaissié shows how the National Front loan is just the most visible part of a wider campaign by both Putin and his former KGB allies to remould France in Russia's image.
