Remembering the King of Congolese Rumba
In tonight's bulletin: a tribute to Papa Wemba; protests in Kenya; and raising awareness in Nigeria on Malaria Day.
It’s a tough year for musical greats. After one of Africa’s biggest music legends passes away, plans for festival-sized tributes are already in motion. Papa Wemba, the king of Congolese rumba, died on Sunday.
Also, police and protesters clash in Nairobi as supporters of former prime minister Raila Odinga try to storm the electoral commission. Presidential elections are due next year and demonstrators accuse the body of bias against their candidate.
And Africa is the continent most affected by malaria; on World Malaria Day we meet some of the teams working with communities to help them spot the signs and take action to prevent the spread of the illness.
