Helen Clark: 'I’m the best person for the job of UN Secretary-General'
Issued on: Modified:
Annette Young meets Helen Clark, one of four female candidates in the running to become the next UN Secretary-General and take over from Ban Ki-moon at the end of the year. The former New Zealand prime minister believes she is the best candidate for the job.
This is "the first time that anyone from the South Pacific has come forward" for the position of UN Secretary-General, Helen Clark tells FRANCE 24's Annette Young.
"I’ve never asked anyone to elect me, going right back through a long political career, because I’m a woman. Obviously I’m a woman and I love to see women get to the top. But my appeal is: vote for me because I’m the best person for the job. I bring a woman’s eyes and ears to it".
