2017 presidential election: Will Hollande have a rival on the left?

François Hollande has not yet said explicitly whether he intends to run for re-election in a year's time, but his popularity remains at record-low levels. Meanwhile, some rivals on the left are preparing their own run. This could prove a death knell to the Socialists. On Monday, former economy minister Arnaud Montebourg, who served under Hollande until being ousted two years ago, made his political comeback, all but saying he wants to run for president next year.
