Pierre Moscovici: 'EU deficit rules have to be respected but are also flexible'
Spain and Portugal continue to run deficits above EU limits. Talking Europe meets with the Commissioner for Economic Affairs, Pierre Moscovici, to find out whether or not sanctions will be used against them. He says that EU deficit rules have to be respected but that these rules are also flexible, intelligent and allow room for manoeuvre.
Moscovici also gives us his view of the EU economy without the UK, saying that if the EU deals with Brexit "properly", then as uncertainty lowers so will any risks. He adds that “those who will stay inside the EU need to reinvent themselves to be capable of investing more and to strengthen the eurozone.”
