'National Identity' issue drives French election campaign

IN THE FRENCH PAPERS – Thurs. 06.10.16: French papers react to a new report that says programmes to aid youth employment have been "disappointing". The government has spent €10.5 billion in efforts to help young people find work, with not much to show for it. Also, conservative party Les Republicains takes centre stage as Alain Juppé and Nicolas Sarkozy duke it out in the polls. Both men are vying to become the party’s presidential candidate.
