Conflict escalates in Kashmir

Kashmir is split between Indian and Pakistani rule, but both countries claim the region in its entirety and have gone to war three times over it. On Wednesday, Indian security forces killed two gunmen, ending a three-day standoff on the outskirts of the regional capital Srinagar. Our team explains why the conflict has escalated in recent months, following the killing of a popular rebel commander by Indian soldiers.
