It's not exactly what Barack Obama had in mind when he called for an Asia pivot. The red carpet is being rolled out in Beijing for the Philippines' firebrand president as Rodrigo Duterte embarks on a four-day state visit to China. Since he took office, Duterte has proved thin-skinned and trigger-happy in the name of his war on drugs. Will he follow through on his threat to end joint naval manoeuvres with the US?
