Israeli-Palestinian conflict: Is a non-violent approach possible?

Ali Abu Awwad is an unlikely Palestinian peace activist. His brother was killed during the Second Intifada, while he and his mother both spent years in Israeli jails. Ali Abu Awwad now lives in the West Bank, near the town of Hebron. Along with Shaul Judelman and Hanan Schlesinger, two Orthodox Jews living in nearby settlements, he has created an organisation called Roots, dedicated to teaching nonviolence. He tells Marc Perelman how he became a peace activist despite his tragic family history.
