Macron vs Le Pen: The battle for France's top job

On April 23, French people headed to polling stations to cast their ballots in the first round of what was dubbed "the most unpredictable presidential election" in France's modern history. The centrist independent Emmanuel Macron came out on top, followed by the far-right's Marine Le Pen. Both are promising to lead France in a new direction. We take a closer look at these two presidential hopefuls, their respective career paths and their strategy to convince voters ahead of the May 7 run-off.
