Cinema comes to La Serenissima with 74th Venice film festival

La Mostra has kicked off in Venice, as stars disembark at the world’s oldest film festival. In addition to the hotly-awaited Hollywood features, social issues are also on the bill. Chinese artist Ai Weiwei is presenting his documentary "Human Flow", a meditation on the global refugee crisis that he filmed in 23 different countries.

We also take a look at the small screen phenomenon that’s become a boon for tourism. "Game of Thrones" fans are flocking to the locations where the series was filmed; the latest site is Northern Ireland.

And a retrospective here in Paris takes us inside the eye of a singular photographer: Ed van der Elsken’s shots highlight the poetry and romance in everyday moments, while bringing a fresh perspective to the streets of 1960s Paris.
