Trade wars: Jobs in jeopardy amid transatlantic spat

It’s a situation Europe hasn’t found itself in for over a decade: The shadow of a transatlantic trade war is looming large after US President Donald Trump announced plans to hike import tariffs on steel and aluminium, citing national security reasons. The European Union has since been accorded an exemption – but only until May 1, leaving a host of question marks for the future. In our debate we ask whether the march to trade war can be truly stopped? Could Europe be accused of protectionism?
