Netflix said on Thursday it had tapped former US national security advisor and United Nations ambassador Susan Rice to join its board of directors.
Rice is currently a visiting fellow at American University and Harvard, as well as an opinion writer for the New York Times.
"We are delighted to welcome Ambassador Rice to the Netflix board," said co-founder and CEO Reed Hastings in a statement.
"For decades, she has tackled difficult, complex global issues with intelligence, integrity and insight and we look forward to benefiting from her experience and wisdom."
Rice directed the National Security Council from 2013 to 2017, providing the daily briefing to then-president Barack Obama, and was responsible for foreign and national security policy, intelligence and military efforts.
In the four years prior, she was the US permanent representative to the UN and has worked as an assistant to Bill Clinton during his time in the White House.
"I am thrilled to be joining the board of directors of Netflix, a cutting-edge company whose leadership, high-quality productions, and unique culture I deeply admire," Rice said.
