Yemeni filmmaker Khadija al-Salami: 'When I see any injustice, it hurts me'

Khadija al-Salami is Yemen’s first female filmmaker. She focuses on the stories of women and girls in her home country, drawing on her own experiences as a child bride to tell the stories of patriarchy and social convention in Yemen. Her feature film "I Am Nojoom, Age 10 and Divorced" was the first Yemeni film to be submitted for consideration at the Oscars. She tells FRANCE 24 how she escaped her own marriage at the age of 11, and is now using her work to campaign for girls' rights in Yemen.
