Cannes Film Festival's official selection unveiled

Eighteen features will be battling it out on the Riviera for the golden palm at this year’s festival, as organisers announce the list of films in the official competition at Cannes. Spike Lee, Matteo Garrone and Jean-Luc Godard will all have films screened, as well as Jafar Panahi. Authorities in Tehran have placed the Iranian director under house arrest in the past for what they believe to be dissident film-making, and he’s been prevented from travelling to the festival in previous years.

We also check out a globally-minded collection of artwork on show at the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris.

Meanwhile, Subodh Gupta's installations, sculptures and videos take pride of place at Paris's mint, as the Indian artist is celebrated with a retrospective here in France.

And we remember the couple who embodied the romance of French pop in the 1960s. "Jane and Serge" are the subject of a new photography exhibition in Calais, as the Gainsbourg family album goes on show.
