The hostage crisis that changed history: Director José Padilha returns to Entebbe
In the hands of director José Padilha, current events go from nightly news stories to fast-paced action thrillers. His vision of institutionalized police corruption in 2007’s "Elite Squad" won the Brazilian director a golden bear at the Berlin film festival.
His Netflix series "Narcos" – the saga of Colombia’s most notorious drug baron, Pablo Escobar - has been a hit with fans and earned him critical acclaim. Mixing documentary and drama, Padilha’s latest release depicts a hostage situation in Entebbe, Uganda. The film stars Rosamund Pike and Daniel Brühl and revisits an incident which was to be decisive for the future of the Middle East.
